Hello,
I have run into some issues with scanning books for college. Some books are not in an electronic format, and I tried to scan them with OpenBook, but there were so many tables, that the content was not very readable. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to alter the settings in OpenBook to yield the best results?
If I am unable to scan books, I want to have someone record them. However, as far as I am aware, if you record with the BrailleNote or Victor Stream, the data is just recorded into one large file. I want to have the file indexed, so if I want, I can easily jump from section to section, page to page, and so on. How would I go about recording a book with these capabilities?
Hi
I don't think you can do something that extensive. With the Plextalk Pocket, you can set audio bookmakrs as youa re recording reading of pages, but I don't think you can use the whole Daisy book marking set of technologies (though I am not 100% sure).
But look at the Plextalk Pocket, that is your best option when it comes to setting bookmarks on the fly while recording, at least for the basic portable options we got.
Yeah, but those are like $200! What about the Olympus recorders?
Guess they are $20 for a reason, Olypus cost about as much, and have no bookmarking capabilities, as far as I am aware.
You should be able to justify this as a necessary aide and have your DSS office pay for it, it's worth a try, and they can't refuse you if you can show sufficiently that this is something you have to have.
